Our 6-Week Intro to Piano class is the perfect way for your child to see what piano lessons are all about!

 

This online option offers a new, fun experience for your child, with 1-on-1 attention from our piano coach, in the comfort of your own home!

Thinking of putting your child in piano lessons?

It can be a pretty big commitment - renting or buying a keyboard, buying piano books, finding the right teacher and committing to a year of lessons. PLUS, what if it turns out that your child doesn't even enjoy playing piano?

 

We think we have the perfect answer! Why not register your child for our "Intro to Piano" course? That way you can find out if they enjoy playing piano, before you make a commitment for the full year ahead! 

Sing Like A STAR began as a program that only taught singing lessons, but has since expanded to offer fun, confidence boosting, lessons on the piano as well.

Our founder Amy Nelson has designed this "Intro to Piano" program to get students playing at least one song they recognize by the time they finish their first lesson. Students are taught the solid fundamentals needed to succeed in learning to play the piano, but at the same time as having songs they are familiar with added in to keep the lessons fun and engaging and to motivate students to want to keep progressing.

Age Requirements

From past experience, we have seen the majority of students succeed in this program when they are age 6 and older (at least grade 1). We realize that every child learns at a different pace, so will consider younger students on a case by case basis.

FAQs for Intro to Piano

Do I need to buy a piano?

Students will need a piano or keyboard that they can practice on at home during the week while taking this course. We suggest renting a small keyboard until you find out if your child enjoys piano lessons. ​A keyboard can be rented at a local music store for as little as $12 - $20 a month. Let us know if you would like any more information.

What happens after this 6-week course is done?

Students who are wishing to continue piano lessons following this "Intro to Piano" course, are welcome to sign up for more 1-on-1 lessons at regular price. We run these lessons until mid June, before taking a break over the summer months and then we start again in September.

Lessons typically take place once a week, between 4-8pm, however we can work outside those hours if needed.

Lesson Fees:

At Sing Like A STAR, we are going above and beyond - not only following all provincial guidelines, but also taking additional, over-the top steps to make sure our students and staff are as safe as possible during this time.

We spent hundreds of hours this summer/fall researching best practices, so are beyond confident in the precautions and procedures we implemented and continue to enforce since our re-opening in September, 2020. We even consulted with a health care professional to ensure we didn't miss any steps along the way.

Contingency PlanS/Updated refund policy:

We do not anticipate any further restrictions, which would affect the lessons we offer in 2021. However, there will be several options for our families to choose from, if provincial restrictions were to change and we are unable to continue offering our in-person lessons in the coming months OR should a child need to stop participating due to Covid related reasons.

Lesson fees for Intro to Piano are $111. There are also two piano books that need to be purchased (they are approx $8 each).

*Other than that, this is the total price for the 6-week course. There are no registration costs or hidden fees.

How to enrol - NEW families:

STEP 1

Please take a moment to read the IMPORTANT INFO about PAYMENT OPTIONS below...

  • the registration software our program uses requires all families to have a credit card on file in our parent portal in order to register for lessons through our program. However, lesson fees do not need to be paid through credit card. We also offer the option of eTransfers.

  • your credit card will NOT be charged automatically

  • IF you select credit card as your preferred payment method when filling out our online registration form, our administrator will process the payment on your card, through the back end of our registration software within a few business days

****there isn't a way for families to make a payment using a credit card through the parent portal. This is something that WE must do on our end

If you would like to enrol more than one student OR would like to enrol a student for more than one class, you will have the option to do so as soon as you are past this step!

STEP 3

Once you fill out our online registration form, you will receive an automated email with a "Registration Confirmation" and a copy of all details you submitted on your registration form.

STEP 4

We will give you a call to find out the best day/time for your lessons and what day you would like to get started.

How to enrol - returning Families:

STEP 1

Although your family is NOT new to our program (and we are SO glad you are back this season), we would sure appreciate it if you would take a moment to read the IMPORTANT INFO about PAYMENT OPTIONS below...

STEP 2

Click on "PARENT LOGIN", which can also be found either in the top right-hand corner of our website, or by clicking HERE.

STEP 3

Login using your email address and password (Yay! Another password to try and remember...)

*If you have forgotten your password, just click on "forgot password" and you will automatically be sent a link to re-set it.

STEP 4

Once you are logged in to the Parent Portal, you will be able to enrol your child/yourself in any class you like!

STEP 5

Once you have enroled yourself/your child in a new class, you will receive an automated email with an "Enrolment Notification" for that class.

STEP 6

We will give you a call to find out the best day/time for your lessons and what day you would like to get started.

STEP 7

Within a few business days, we will send you an email with a link to a quick online form which will ask you about your payment preferences (Credit Card/eTransfer and Full Payment/Multiple Payments, if applicable).

We know that you may have provided us with your payment preferences for previous classes, but we are trying to be careful not to make any assumptions about your preferences going forward.
